Holiday excitement - Ski edition

Thursday, 11 December 2014

Long line long sleeve top - Topshop
Faux fur trim boots - Debenhams
Ski jacket - TK Maxx
Beanie hat - Jack Wills via ASOS
Tribal knitted leggings - Forever 21
Knitted headband - Sweaty Betty
Long thermal spot socks - M&S

Ok, so I know i'm getting a little ahead of myself for a holiday that is at the end of February but I thought i'd sneak this one in before christmas in case any family members feel like giving me a hand ;-).
To set the scene, I haven't been skiing since Christmas 2009, therefore I need a complete over-haul of ski gear because 1. Fashion has very much changed (goodbye hot pink all in one) and 2. I've grown a good half foot since then (and probably half a foot outwards as well).

I know I know, half of these are less ski-practical and more ski-fashionable but hey, you have to try and look reasonable right?
Seen as I have decided to go for a 2-piece this year I feel like what I wear underneath has to be slightly nicer that what i'd wear under an all in one. Am I crazy? Even if I am, I have decided that knitted leggings and long line long sleeves are the way to go, and I am particularly fond of the two in the picture above. Paired with warm boots and a big thick coat, it's the perfect outfit for an evening in town or paired with thermal socks and a wooly hat for a warm base layer under a ski suit.

What I do know for sure is that i'm after a 2-piece ski suit and I will more than likely go for black trousers and then maybe a slightly more colourful jacket so I can be found on the slopes. This purple ski jacket from TK Maxx is an absolute bargain and exactly what I am looking for, but i'm sure by the time I get around to purchasing, it will already be sold out. Damn Christmas and it's effect on my bank balance!

Am I bananas to be looking at things already?

A gorgeous island called Lanzarote

Tuesday, 17 June 2014

Hey guys, sorry I didn't post anything on Friday, I was on holiday and I didn't get round to scheduling a second post before I left. I got back very early Sunday morning and then spent 2 hours waiting for our luggage in rubbish Gatwick. Yes I know the England game was on, that does not mean don't turn up to work [I am furious, can you tell?]. Anyhow, I though you might like to see a few pictures because I know deep down you are all as nosey as me.

I had the best week ever, the weather was perfect for my pasty white skin, Playa Blanca is beautiful and the hotel was gorgeous. Only downside, if that's what you'd call it, is the fact that I put on about half a stone due to eating carbs and ice cream for every meal of every day. Damn you all inclusive.

On Wednesday we went on 1 of 15 submarines open to the public in the whole entire world, or at least, that's what they told us. I can't think of a better word to describe it other than fascinating. The pictures just don't do it justice. However, we then decided to go scuba diving on Friday which wasn't really the best idea to start with seen as; 1. I'm not a brilliant swimmer. 2. I don't really like the sea and 3. I don't like being underwater for too long. We did it anyway, and i'm so glad I experienced it, but I probably wont do it again. Lanzarote has A LOT of jellyfish, and when I say a lot. I mean a lot. One swam/floated, whatever they do, right by me, and I FREAKED out. After that I couldn't concentrate properly and it was game over.
Bonus, we did get a picture underwater before I freaked so I will add that below when we manage to get hold of it.

I may have also purchased a couple of treats whilst I was out there, everything is cheaper than here. A Chanel Lipstick, LancĂ´me Mascara and the Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume have been added to my little collection.

See you Friday

What made the cut?

Thursday, 22 August 2013

Real Techniques, Garnier, Ecotools, Collection, Rimmel
Soap & Glory, Bourjois, Ecotools
HD, Ecotools, HD, Maxfactor, Rimmel
Maybelline, Look Beauty, Revlon, Blistex

Okay, so to some of you this may seem a lot, and not enough to others. To be honest, I haven't actually used all of it but hey, at least I have it in case. But have no fear, I have been using some of it daily!

Garnier BB cream- I bought this the day before the holiday because there was no way I was bringing foundation with me. I had heard good things so I thought I'd give it a go and I am really liking it. It evens out my colour tones perfectly and leaves my skin looking natural.

Soap & Glory 'Glow all out'- This shimmer/highlighter works beautifully on my pale skin, I haven't been wearing any blusher because my cheeks got burnt on the first day (even though I had factor 50 on!) A little bit of this across the tops of my cheeks breaks up my features and adds a little definition.

HD Brows kit- I couldn't go without this kit. I'm sure every pale person out there understands my pain of having fair eyebrows. Not only are mine fair but they are also very sparse. To me, a good natural brow can completely change a persons face, so this kit is my saviour for faking brows.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator- I will forever love mascara, I have tiny eyes so the smallest amount makes my eyes appear bigger and awake. Rimmel Lash Accelerator is my current favourite in terms of getting length without the thickness, perfect for a holiday.

Maybelline Baby Lips- I picked this up at the airport on the way out here, admittedly, it was purely because of the hype and because it was the first one I had spotted in the UK. Is it worth the hype? No, not in my opinion. But, it is a good lip balm and it does the job. Paired with the intensive moisturiser, there are no dry lips to be seen.

Au revoir!
