Spring wishlist: little things

Monday, 10 March 2014

How lush has the weather been this weekend? I know 17 degrees isn't actually really that hot but after a few months of temperatures not going higher than 6 degrees, it has felt crazy warm! It's made me want to buy anything and everything I see that's pastel coloured. So to suppress the urge to go shopping - again, I have made a little spring wishlist.
1. River Island Colour Block Bag - I adore River Island bags, I always think they are well made and they are always big bags which is perfect for me. I love pinks and oranges together, so cute.
2. Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie - I'm all for bright colour lipsticks but I realised yesterday that I don't yet have a good nude, i'm hoping this lip butter might be my saviour.
3. Topshop Nail Varnish in Unicorn - Last week I dipped my toe into the pool of Topshop make up and bought a lipstick in the shade 'Macaron' which I am in love with and also a green sparkly nail varnish that was a pound in the sale. It was an error to let myself buy them because now I want more and I love sparkly nail varnishes. I think this one is beaut.
4. Yankee Candle in Summer Scoop - I recently nipped up to my local Yankee store to find a new candle, but ended up with an old favourite 'fluffy towels'. However, whilst I was there I had a quick sniff of the new Spring smells and fell head over heels for 'Summr Scoop'. It's fruity and fresh and it will definitely be my next candle purchase.
5. New Look Coral Crochet Ballet Pumps - Bows, laser cut crochet effect and a gorgeous coral colour- what more could I ask for?
Are you guys excited for spring/summer? What's your favourite colour to wear?

'Probably shouldn't have done that'

Tuesday, 17 September 2013

The title pretty much sums up what my bank balance was saying to me after I walked out of Boots on Sunday. My response was 'be quiet, they are necessary purchases.' Besides, it was buy one get one half price so it's justified right?
1. EcoTools eyeshadow brush- so I may already have this brush but its just so fluffy I had to have another.
2. Real techniques expert face brush- another brush to add to my little collection, I don't really need it, but I'll use it anyway. It's a good brush, and not a bad price!
3. Bourjois Delice de soleil- I had the chocolate block, so now I'm going to try this one. I don't really use bronzer that often (I don't think I have any cheek bones to contour but hey, it's handy to have.
4. Rimmel Wake me up foundation in ivory- I've had this foundation before and I liked it. It has good coverage, doesn't dry out my skin and also doesn't slide off my face as quickly as some others. It's a handy one to have on weekdays when I'm just going to work.
5. Revlon lip butter in cupcake- I bought one of these in the shade 'raspberry pie' as soon as they came out, and I love them when the weather gets colder. They're super moisturising, and such lovely colours. Perfect for autumn.

6. Benefit they're real mascara- I'm actually very surprised I didn't buy this mascara as soon as everyone started raving about it. Good willpower Megan, well done! 'Claps self', but when I spotted that at the moment, you get a free travel size one with it (perfect for my carry around make up bag) I couldn't resist any longer. Very good mascara, however it rubs off very easily which isn't good for someone who picks their eyelashes!

7. Benefit Rockateur blusher- I needed a new blusher, this ones new, and the sales advisor was very good at her job. Need I say more? I like it, and the shimmer goes away after a few uses which is handy for me as I'm not in to sparkly blushers.

8. Time for the grand finale, the Yves Saint Laurent le teint touché éclat foundation- expensive? Yes. Worth it? Who knows, haven't used it yet. Why? This is my first high end foundation (other than the Clinique one that was too dark for my skin when I was 15) and I wanted to treat myself to a decent one. I took myself to a counter, and then didn't know what shade I was so I completely trusted the woman behind the counter. We will soon see if she was any good at her job.

I may have to wait a little while until my next make up haul, my bank card is still crying in my purse.

What made the cut?

Thursday, 22 August 2013

Real Techniques, Garnier, Ecotools, Collection, Rimmel
Soap & Glory, Bourjois, Ecotools
HD, Ecotools, HD, Maxfactor, Rimmel
Maybelline, Look Beauty, Revlon, Blistex

Okay, so to some of you this may seem a lot, and not enough to others. To be honest, I haven't actually used all of it but hey, at least I have it in case. But have no fear, I have been using some of it daily!

Garnier BB cream- I bought this the day before the holiday because there was no way I was bringing foundation with me. I had heard good things so I thought I'd give it a go and I am really liking it. It evens out my colour tones perfectly and leaves my skin looking natural.

Soap & Glory 'Glow all out'- This shimmer/highlighter works beautifully on my pale skin, I haven't been wearing any blusher because my cheeks got burnt on the first day (even though I had factor 50 on!) A little bit of this across the tops of my cheeks breaks up my features and adds a little definition.

HD Brows kit- I couldn't go without this kit. I'm sure every pale person out there understands my pain of having fair eyebrows. Not only are mine fair but they are also very sparse. To me, a good natural brow can completely change a persons face, so this kit is my saviour for faking brows.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator- I will forever love mascara, I have tiny eyes so the smallest amount makes my eyes appear bigger and awake. Rimmel Lash Accelerator is my current favourite in terms of getting length without the thickness, perfect for a holiday.

Maybelline Baby Lips- I picked this up at the airport on the way out here, admittedly, it was purely because of the hype and because it was the first one I had spotted in the UK. Is it worth the hype? No, not in my opinion. But, it is a good lip balm and it does the job. Paired with the intensive moisturiser, there are no dry lips to be seen.

Au revoir!

New <id cosmetics

Wednesday, 23 January 2013

Hey there!
This post is about new <id cosmetics and also their London studio. For my friends 18th last year I paid for us to go on a photo-shoot, we eventually got around to booking it and we went on Sunday. I found it to be a really nice day, and loved the make over especially. I hadn't heard of new <id before, maybe I'm just a little slow but I loved almost every product she used, and I ended up purchasing the lipstick whilst I was there. I would normally fill in my eyebrows a little more, but overall I loved the look she gave me and I was surprised at how little foundation she used to get the coverage I like.

I am drawn to the colour of my lips in these photos so I'm really glad I bought it.

The lipstick is called I-pout and I got it in the colour damson, I love the simple but detailed packaging of it. It's a gorgeous deep pink with a slight purple tint and I think it's ideal for my very pale skin colour. There is a small mirror on the lid and there's a button on the base that lights up the applicator, perfect if you need to reapply in the taxi on the way to a night out. The reason I love the lipstick itself is because it is so moisturising, I was a little worried when she applied because I have really dry lips and always have to apply some sort of lip salve first. I was amazed that 3 hours later my lips still hadn't dried out. Very happy with my little purchase.

Have any of you guys used any new <id products before?
