OOTD clash of the seasons

Monday, 18 February 2013

Hey lovelies.

So the sun is finally making an appearance, but still not warm enough to wave goodbye to tights just yet. I've been obsessed with this skirt since the day I got it, it's a gorgeous colour and can be worn with anything.

Jumper: Wallis Skirt: Boohoo

I think I'm going to keep wearing this jumper until it falls apart, it's just so cute! Are any of you guys braving the weather without tights just yet? To be honest, I'll keep wearing them all year round.

What's in my bag?

Friday, 1 February 2013

This is my most used day to day bag, it's from Matalan and it was about £16, I didn't really get the skulls and the crosses but I am crazy about studs. It's the perfect size to hold all of the things I deem necessary to carry around everyday, and I just love it.
Daily essentials are of course my purse, my phone (adore this phone case, so me), and my house/car keys with my various girly key rings.
My giant make up bag goes everywhere with me, very essential to have. And how cute is my little diary! Pretty little birdcages to match my pretty little birdcage keyring.

My own personal first aid kit: Soap and glory hand cream is a must, especially in the winter. Pretty little tissues, compact brush and amazing cupcake plasters <3

Other random little things that hang around at the bottom of my bag, nail file, glossybox mirror, 2 gorgeous lipsticks and my life saviour lip balms.

I didn't take a picture of all of the loose change and receipts, didn't think you'd want to see that ha.

Risotto recipe

Sunday, 27 January 2013

I have a recipe post that isn't to do with baking today, crazy!

Last night I made risotto for Jake, he had never had it before so it was comforting to know that he wouldn't of had a clue if it went wrong. Fortunately, it didn't go terribly, I was actually quite proud.

Ingredients

As much chorizo as you like, I used about 150g, slice it thinly.

Risotto rice, 1/2 cup per person

1 large glass of white wine

Baby tomatoes

2 sweet potatoes

Vegetable stock

1 red onion

2 cloves garlic

Olive oil

Butter

Balsamic vinegar

You may notice a red pepper in there, I forgot to use it, oopsie, feel free to add it in though.
Pre heat your oven to 180 degrees, put your tomatoes and sweet potato chunks in a baking tray, cover in a generous amount of olive oil, season with salt and a little pepper and add a splash of balsamic vinegar, roast for about 25 minutes.
Put some oil in a deep pan, add the sliced garlic and onion and fry for roughly 5 minutes, add the chorizo and simmer for another 5 minutes. Add the rice, and after a couple of minutes on a medium heat, add the wine. Make sure it's hot enough for the wine to simmer. Add your stock cube to 500ml of boiling water and stir until completely dissolved. Start to add it to the rice, bit by bit, it should take 15-20 minutes to do this, don't rush it or your risotto could end up dry and stodgy.

Your sweet potato and tomatoes should be done by now, stir them in and add a knob of butter, stir and then leave to rest for a few minutes. Serve how you like, salad/bread works well, season to taste.

Enjoy!

New <id cosmetics

Wednesday, 23 January 2013

Hey there!
This post is about new <id cosmetics and also their London studio. For my friends 18th last year I paid for us to go on a photo-shoot, we eventually got around to booking it and we went on Sunday. I found it to be a really nice day, and loved the make over especially. I hadn't heard of new <id before, maybe I'm just a little slow but I loved almost every product she used, and I ended up purchasing the lipstick whilst I was there. I would normally fill in my eyebrows a little more, but overall I loved the look she gave me and I was surprised at how little foundation she used to get the coverage I like.

I am drawn to the colour of my lips in these photos so I'm really glad I bought it.

The lipstick is called I-pout and I got it in the colour damson, I love the simple but detailed packaging of it. It's a gorgeous deep pink with a slight purple tint and I think it's ideal for my very pale skin colour. There is a small mirror on the lid and there's a button on the base that lights up the applicator, perfect if you need to reapply in the taxi on the way to a night out. The reason I love the lipstick itself is because it is so moisturising, I was a little worried when she applied because I have really dry lips and always have to apply some sort of lip salve first. I was amazed that 3 hours later my lips still hadn't dried out. Very happy with my little purchase.

Have any of you guys used any new <id products before?

I'm a little bit in love

Monday, 21 January 2013

With the snow! But it annoys me that I will probably have to get the bus to work because my road is very icy and I'm not sure my poor little car will cope :(

I made a creepy looking penguin, Lauren made a sphinx and mum made a lonely looking snowman. Now it's time for hot chocolate and a game of ingenious before I head off to a really dull evening at work.

Snow bath anyone?
