21st birthday wishlist - Beauty and Lifestyle

Thursday, 25 September 2014

My second and final birthday wishlist is here and it's a mish mash of beauty and lifestyle. I was going to  split these into two posts as there are so many more things I would love, but I don't want to make life too easy for anyone buying me presents :D

1. I am very much in love with my current blusher which is the Benefit Rockateur, however, I have hit pan and I like to give other products a go. So, I have hunted for what appears to be a great option for fair skinned people like me. This Too Faced blush has all of the good tones and has a perfect amount of shimmer and I like that you can blend the 3 colours together or be bolder with one.

2. I know everyone is after the wintery candles now but I just can't get over how good this Yankee candle smells. I have resisted buying it so far as I am still using up my Fluffy Towels one but I wouldn't complain if somebody wanted to gift it to me. I know it'll be the perfect summer reminder whenever winter gets too cold and depressing.

3. I am still a Butter London virgin and it just can't go on, I cant even explain how beautiful every single colour is. I am very much drawn to this one, who wouldn't be, it's so sparkly! To top it off it's called 'airy fairy' who doesn't want a nail polish called that?

4. My bedroom seems to have taken a slightly grey/purple colour scheme recently and it's not quite balanced enough for my liking. All of my bedsheets are purple orientated so I definitely think I need a grey cushion, and maybe even a grey throw if anyone can find a nice one. I love Matalan- I think they are great quality for the prices they are and I always seem to come out with something.

5. I know I know I couldn't be later to the party with this one, everyone has been raving about the Benefit 'Gimme Brow' since it came out but I was just a little dubious about what use i'd get out of it. I have naturally fair and sparse eyebrows so it can be very difficult to get any kind of shape out of them. I fill my brows in almost every day and it's fine but I think this product will help accentuate the hairs that I do have and hopefully help to keep the sisters (not twins) looking natural.

6. The picture says it all doesn't it? If you aren't a lover of tea, well i'm not sure we can be friends. Hmm well, I might be able to forgive you but come on, you are crazy. Gifts & Pieces is a fairly new find for me and I am surprised it hasn't already bankrupted me because I can tell you now, if I had my own place, it would be full of items from here. All in good time hey! I think a mug is a pretty good baby step right, nobody can have too many mugs can they?

I hope you have enjoyed these posts, maybe it's even made some of you do a bit of shopping?

Skirt: Matalan
Top: Wallis
Blazer: Newlook
Boots: Newlook

I know I know, my bum does look big in this - but how beaut is this skirt. It may be knitted but it's still perfect for this current spring weather (I say as it rains outside). Funnily enough I bought this skirt about a month ago and had decided to return it. Then I forgot and the receipt ran out...but i'm really glad I ended up keeping it, and as long as I always stand side on it doesn't make me look too huge ;)

Sunny smiles

Jeans: Primark

Top: Matalan

Shoes: Matalan

Ring: Asos

Watch: Fossil

Sunnies: Wallis

The sun has finally come out from hibernation, and we can all start to head out without our scarves and coats. Phew. As you may have noticed, I am pretty pale so I am not particularly eager to get my legs out as soon as the sun shines. I am however, a big fan of rolled up jeans and pretty shoes. I picked these sweet little nude ankle strap flats from Matalan last week and I love that they can add a little extra to an otherwise plain outfit. Paired simply with my chunky watch and fox head ring, this will very quickly be a starting point for a lot of my spring outfits.

Velvet love

Thursday, 13 February 2014

Dress: USC
Necklace: USC
Tights: Primark
Boots: Mummy's wardrobe (Matalan)

I've never been a huge fan of velvet but I adore this dress. The colour is gorgeous, it's not too short and it's a skater skirt style. It's not often that I find a dress that ticks all the boxes, plus it was only £12 in the sale. Absolute bargain.
I can pair it with a blazer for work, heels and a clutch for a night out or, like in this picture, boots and statement jewellery for a day out (doing more shopping of course)

Dress: Wallis

Blazer: Matalan

Boots: Mascotte

Belt: River Island

Bracelet: Wallis

Ring: New Look

Necklace: Miss Selfridge

I wanted to show you guys how I've been wearing my gorgeous new boots from Mascotte. I am completely smitten with them, they are a gorgeous reddy brown and the comfiest boots I have ever worn. With a fur lining, I can guarantee they will be well worn during the winter months.

For this casual pub lunch look I have teamed them with a plain black jersey dress and a jacquard blazer. Gold jewellery and a natural make up look meant that the boots do all the talking. With a slight heel, they would easily dress up a casual jeans and tee combo, but are still perfect for everyday wear. They may be my first pair of shoes from Mascotte but I can guarantee they won't be my last. Added bonus... They do gorgeous bags too.

Fluffy jumpsuits

Tuesday, 29 October 2013

I picked this jumpsuit up for my birthday a couple of weeks ago with the determination to wear it more than once. Is it just me or does it feel really different to wear a jumpsuit during the day than at night? Either way I took the plunge and wore it. Paired with this fluffy jumper from Matalan and my cute sneakery high top things. I think it makes a pretty cool casual look without looking like I'm heading to the gym!

The pattern is pretty out there so I kept the jewellery simple. My rose gold watch and some mix and match rings from my sisters room finish off my OOTD.

Oh and of course I am rocking some pretty cool nail varnish. This particular one is from Barry M and is a new textured effect polish (feels a little like sand). I'm sure you guys gave noticed my love for nail art...and if you haven't then you should really head on over to my Instagram! This gorgeous sparkly purple/gold is an easy way out if you don't have the time (or the patience) for anything too bananas!

OOTD: casual class

Sunday, 6 October 2013

Hey guys!

I went a little crazy this week and purchased a pair of shoes that I normally wouldn't look twice at. These 'high tops' are everywhere at the moment, but I always thought they were too casual for me. I'm normally much more of a ballet pump with bows on type of gal. Working in London has all but removed the possibility of wearing pumps. I have a 20 minute walk from the station to my office everyday, and if there is even the slightest bit of rain, pumps become a no-go...unless you like to have soggy feet for the rest of the day that is.

I was instantly drawn to these ones from River, the quilted base and suede panels made them seem slightly girlier and they just looked comfy. I was sold, into the basket they went. The only part I wasn't thrilled with was the white bottom, but 1 day walking around London and it became a slightly grubbier, less gleaming shade of white.

Top: Matalan

Leggings: Matalan

Blazer: New Look

Shoes: River Island

I teamed the bright yellow top with these leggings to add a bit of colour and added this smart-ish blazer into the mix to make the overall look slightly less casual. Matalan seems to be taking over this outfit a little, not that I'm complaining mind, they have some really lovely stuff in at the moment.

What do you think, can I pull off this sports luxe trend?

Time out

Friday, 4 October 2013

I really think it is starting to feel like autumn this week. It's dark by the time I eventually get home from work and all I want to do is snuggle up in my PJ's. On that note - here is a post on what would make my perfect autumn night in!

You simply can't have a cosy night in without a burning fire and cuddly slippers. These slipper boots are from Matalan and I have a feeling I may buy these to replace my tatty old ones that I currently have.Cold nights in should always include comfort food, and my ultimate 'sit in front of the tv and do a whole lot of nothing' food is...m&m's. I will happily sit and eat them all evening - and I quite often do. Going on from these tasty morsels, what better way to eat them than in front of a rom-com? I haven't yet seen I give it a year, but I have ordered it ready for when I finally get around to having a night to myself. Painting my nails is one of the first things I think about doing when I have time to spare. I am obsessed with nail art and it is very rare that you'll spot me with just one plain ol' colour on. I don't actually have any clue what brand these are (the image is from google) but I thought it looked cool, and I wasn't going to waste any of my colours re-creating it!
What items make the perfect night in for you?
